Tottenham are set to swoop for Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure in the summer.
Mauricio Pochettino was left very impressed by the 25-year-old midfielder on Monday night when the Spurs manager turned up at Vicarage Road on a scouting mission.
Doucoure starred as Watford defeated Chelsea 4-1 but Tottenham could face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool for the highly-rated Frenchman.
Doucoure’s contract with the Hornets lasts until the summer of 2020 and Watford will try to tie their asset down to a new deal, worth more than £60,000 a week.
Yet the Hertfordshire side know he is being tracked by the top flight’s big clubs and are expecting enquiries at the end of the season.
Should they decide to sell, Watford will demand more than the club record £20m they banked from selling Odion Ighalo to Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai last year.
Doucoure cost just £8million when he was bought from Rennes in 2016.
