FIFA World Cup trophy expected in Abuja on March 7 and 8

– The FIFA World Cup trophy tour will come Nigeria on March 7 and 8

– The tour was flagged off in London by Sir Geoff and Italian legend Pirlo

– The Super Eagles qualified for the World Cup by beating Zambia, Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria to the ticket.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy tour will come to Nigeria March 7 and 8 and it will be in Abuja, the trophy will visit 91 cities across 51 countries and six continents. It was flagged off by former World Cup winners Sir Geoff Hurst and Andrea Pirlo on Monday in a ceremony held in London. “Following the success of the first phase of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, which gave more than 220,000 people across Russia the chance to see the FIFA World Cup Trophy with their own eyes. We are very excited to now offer this unforgettable opportunity to football fans around the world,” FIFA’s Chief Commercial Officer Philippe Le Floc’h said to FIFA.

Andrea Pirlo added, “It is a great honour that I could be here today to send-off the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour plane on its journey around the globe. Being able to once again hold the Original Trophy brings back amazing memories for me. And I cannot wait to find out who will lift this precious sporting icon after the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This trophy represents the absolute pinnacle of a player’s career.”

Before the tour began the trophy had toured the host country Russia for three months, visiting cities spanning over 16,000 kilometers.

Flavblist had earlier said reporters said the FIFA World Cup trophy would be visiting Nigeria in March 2018, the official date for the visit has now been confirmed by FIFA. The Super Eagles beat African champions Cameroon and power houses like Algeria and Zambia to the sole World Cup ticket in their group.
