Taylor Swift Rings In The New Year By Returning To No. 1

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has started the year off right by bouncing back to the top of the albums tally with her latest champion, Reputation. The former country singer’s latest studio effort has returned to the peak of the Billboard 200 thanks to 107,000 equivalent units, according to Billboard.

Reputation debuted at No. 1 back in November with more than one million units, giving Swift another rare million-plus week. By doing so, she became the first artist in history to see four different titles move that many copies in seven days. The record was in charge for three consecutive turns, after which point it stepped aside for just as many frames. Now, after U2, Luke Bryan and most recently, Eminem, have all started new titles at the top, Swift is back, and she might hold on for more than just a single week.

Swift’s friend and frequent collaborator Ed Sheeran (who is also a superstar himself, by the way) almost reclaimed the throne as well, as his latest record ÷ (Divide) is in second place as 2018 begins.

The top debut this opening frame goes to rappers Travis Scott and Quavo, who is now known equally for his work as a solo act and the music he releases as one of three members of the trio Migos. Scott and Quavo teamed up to record and release a joint album entitled Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho, which is being pushed under the moniker Huncho Jack. The record kicks off at No. 3 with 90,000 equivalent units, just barely missing the runner-up slot. Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho is the third top 10 effort for both artists, who may very well collect a fourth in 2018 with new albums from their main projects.

After debuting at No. 1 this time last week, fellow hip-hop powerhouse Eminem dips only a few slots with his ninth leader, Revival. In week two, the title has dipped to fourth place.
